The Horses

Every partnership in para sport starts here. Meet Timmy, Amanda’s ridden horse, Ranger, her driving partner for 2025, and the horses who carried her to international level.

Now: Kirkstall Spirit, “Timmy”

Timmy is Amanda’s own horse and her partner for her return to para dressage. A Thoroughbred, he has been retrained by Amanda’s long-time trainer Louise Robson of Thoroughbred Dressage into what Amanda calls “a proper para pony”.

In June 2026, after almost three years away, they made their Grade I debut together at Bury Farm and won. Amanda’s verdict on Timmy: “Having never set foot in an arena in his entire life… [he] took it all in his giant stride and marched straight up the centre line like he’d been doing it forever.”

In October he made his international debut, riding for Great Britain at the Wellington CPEDI2* in the Intermediate A, the Intermediate B and the freestyle.

In harness: Ranger

Menai Lone Ranger (Ranger for short), owned by Averina Snow, was Amanda’s driving partner in 2025. Together they went from her first competition in April to 9th at the FEI Para Driving World Championships in Lähden that September.

Amanda is now training on borrowed horses and aims to buy her own horse or loan one to compete in 2027, with the goal of selection for the FEI Para Driving World Championships.

The real cost of a horse at this level

A para dressage or driving horse needs the same care as any elite athlete: feed, farrier, physio, vet checks, saddle fitting, insurance and transport to shows across the UK and Europe. On top of that come coaching, entries, specialist adapted equipment and, for driving, a carriage and harness.

Sponsors and supporters keep the horses fit, sound and competing. That is the most direct way to help Amanda reach the next championship.
